“A picture can capture a moment, but it cannot capture a person.”
“Some people may see a picture and think they know the whole story. A girl walking on a late street. A woman working at night. A student who does not explain. These moments are easy to look at. They are also easy to misunderstand.”
“Before we ask, we often guess. Before we understand, we often judge.”
“People may call a girl cold because she does not smile enough. They may call her arrogant because she refuses to explain. They may repeat a rumor until it sounds like truth. But repetition does not make it true.”
“Prejudice is convenient. It saves people the trouble of understanding.”
“Someone once told me that if I wanted to speak, he would listen.”
“Listening may not change the world immediately. But it can give a person the courage to stop hiding.”
“I am not asking everyone to like me. I am not asking everyone to understand me at once.”
